As the sponsor of HOT ROD'S BIKE-WORKS Readers' Rides, Bassani motorcycle exhaust, available exclusively from North County Customs, wants to help you get the most out of your motorcycle. If we select your bike to run in the Readers' Rides section, the folks at North County Customs will give you a gift certificate good for $75 toward the purchase of a set of the shop's pipes. Now what could be better than that? Getting your bike displayed on these pages is as simple as sending a couple of good-looking photographs of your motorcycle shot against a clean background (no poles growing out of the seat, no cars or trash cans in the background). Please include some information telling us what you've done to make your bike cool. If you think your bike has what it takes, then show it off for all to see. Mail your photos, a brief background of the bike, and your contact information to HOT ROD'S BIKE-WORKS, Attn: Readers' Rides, 2570 E. Cerritos Ave., Anaheim, CA 92806, or e-mail us at bikeworks@primedia.com.
Doug Kluga of Saint John, IN, bought this bike in March 2002. It was pretty much stock, and after riding it for awhile he stripped it down to the frame and motor and went to work. He piped it up with a little help from Samson for that extra loud purr, painted the tank and fenders, and finally, he outfitted his revamped Harley with some new wheels from Rowe Machine. When he finished replacing the rest of the parts last winter he was finally done. It's time to ride it now, Doug!
Pat Davis of Seattle, WA, has owned his "baby," a '73 shovelhead, since 1984. We imagine that the riding weather in Seattle can be somewhat intermittent, but Pat probably doesn't let a little rain stop him from riding this beautiful bike.
Bill Miles from Newcomerstown, OH, tricked out his original Sporty to this fierce beast. He changed the tank, piped it up, put some bags on it, and added a windshield. Plenty of other modifications were made, including the paint: a bright purple with glossy finish. Some of us are Sporty owners at HRBW as well, and we love to see the creations you come up with.
