This month we had the pleasure to roam around the newly founded Todd's Cycle in Huntington Beach, California. Todd Silicato and Dennis Sanchez have filled the nearly 3,000-square-foot facility with trick machines and motorcycles. Todd's history includes stints at Performance Machine and Top Shelf Customs and a number of pro road race teams for riders like Jimmy Filice and Roland Sands. Dennis, who has worked at Moal Coachbuilders in Oakland, California, as well as West Coast Choppers, brought a plethora of machines and fabricating talent with him including the patterns to produce the famed H-D XR-750 fuel tanks.
Todd's Cycle, like most shops, is in business to make money; money comes from selling parts and services, services like prototyping sheetmetal products and machine work. So to that end, we want to tell you about Todd's ribbed fender for narrow- and wide-tire bikes. The ribbed fender is available in sizes from 7-1/2 inches up to 13 inches. Next is the XR-750 gas tank which is available on a special order basis (you have to call). The original tanks for the race team were made by Jack Hagerman and are now constructed by Dennis. Donf,,'t think that they are limited to building only the XR tanks. Todd's can make you any size or style tank (gas or oil) that you can think up and usually in less time than most other shops.
Another hot item is the shop's Dive Bars which feature a standard height of 15 inches to the center of the grip, but like everything the shop produces, a custom version can easily be constructed to suit your bike's needs. We will have a custom Sportster project going with Todd's Cycle in the near future, so stay tuned.
